At Sheridan AllPrep Academy, we strive to support all of our students.  Part of that support includes a Pregnant and Parenting Program for our students who are pregnant, have a girlfriend who is pregnant, or who are already parents.

Students can earn credit for completing work through this program.  Please contact your mentor teacher for more information.

It is our mission to meet the individual learning needs of each of our students.  To that end, we recognize that those students who come to us who have been identified (or are identified by Sheridan AllPrep Academy) as Talented and Gifted (TAG) have specific academic, social, and emotional needs that are not met via a typical grade level curriculum.  We make every attempt to use best practices in TAG education to deliver curriculum in a manner that is creative, rigorous, and developmentally appropriate.

Best Practices in Curriculum Delivery

We use a variety of teaching strategies to deliver curriculum content to best meet the specific needs of our TAG students.  Our teaching strategies may be used one at a time or in concert with other teaching tools, strategies, and methods.  These include, but are not limited to:

  • Proficiency based learning.
  • Project based learning.
  • Curriculum compacting.
  • Acceleration.
  • Grade level acceleration.
  • Field trips/hands on learning experiences.
  • Travel abroad learning experiences.
  • Internships/workplace education experiences.
  • Early college credit/placement.

Per Oregon’s TAG mandate, we consider students to be identified as Talented and Gifted if they score 97% or above on a state recognized prescriptive test combined with anecdotal evidence from the students’ teachers and/or parents.  The prescriptive tests used at Sheridan AllPrep Academy at this time are the Cogat, Oregon State Tests, PSAT, SAT, and/or ACT.

Any parent of a minor student or students over the age of 18 may request an evaluation for TAG identification.  Upon receiving scores of 97% or above based on at least two pieces of evidence, parents and/or students over the age of 18 may accept or refute TAG identification for any reason.

Parent Support

We have provided a wide variety of literature to help families best support their TAG student.  Should parents or students over the age of 18 have further questions regarding the educational, social, and emotional needs of their TAG student, Sheridan AllPrep Faculty and Staff are happy to assist you.
